FloodSafe Routes AI

About FloodSafe Routes AI

How it helps PSHS–Caraga and nearby barangays stay safer during floods.

What is FloodSafe Routes AI?

FloodSafe Routes AI is a community-led intelligence system combining low-cost IoT flood-depth sensors, explainable AI image analysis, and a modern web dashboard. It gives PSHS–Caraga students, parents, and barangay teams rapid feedback when the streets around Brgy. Ampayon, Libertad, and Doongan start to flood.

The platform highlights shallow versus risky walkways, shows where waterlines are rising, and guides DRRM focal persons on which corridors need more attention. It is built as a tool to help communities stay informed—not as a replacement for official DRRM advisories.

How the System Works

Real-time sensors

IoT depth probes measure water levels along campus roads and barangay crossings every few minutes.

Community photos

Students or barangay teams can upload flood images; AI highlights waterlines with transparent overlays.

Multi-source fusion

Sensor depth, AI estimates, rainfall trends, elevation/slope, and flood history combine into a route risk score.

Dashboard + alerts

DRRM focal persons and families see which streets are “passable”, “caution”, or “avoid” within minutes.

Who Can Use It?

PSHS–Caraga DRRM focal persons

Monitor sensors, validate advisories, and coordinate with barangay responders.

Students walking to/from school

Check if the walkway outside campus is shallow enough to cross.

Parents and guardians

Plan safe pickup points or decide when it is safer to wait.

Barangay officials (Ampayon, Libertad, Doongan)

Watch critical drainage spots, maintain sensors, and share verified alerts.

What FloodSafe CAN Do

  • • Show estimated depth at PSHS gateways and nearby roads.
  • • Highlight walkways that might be shallow or deep.
  • • Provide DRRM teams a shared feed of sensors and AI images.
  • • Support safer route planning during sudden rain.
  • • Default to caution if any data looks unclear.

What FloodSafe CANNOT Do

  • • Predict tomorrow’s weather or rainfall totals.
  • • Guarantee that a route is 100% safe.
  • • Replace official DRRM or barangay orders.
  • • Track individuals or share private identities.
  • • Work when sensors are damaged or unpowered.

Data Privacy & Safety

Camera uploads automatically blur faces, plate numbers, or identifiable markings before they appear on the dashboard. Exact personal locations are never published; only aggregated readings are shown. FloodSafe Routes AI aligns with the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173) and focuses on community safety, not surveillance.

How You Can Help

  • • Students and parents: share localized flood photos only when it is safe to do so.
  • • Barangay officials: keep sensors secure, check them after heavy rain, and report any issues.
  • • DRRM teams: review the dashboard frequently, validate AI suggestions, and coordinate with responders.
